A blue & white faience Hanau beerstein also know as enghalskrug in Chinese taste c1740
description
A blue & white German faience Enghalskrug (beer steins) hand painted in Chinese taste with a pewter lid. This piece is a very naively painted stein with two people with trees and a rock formation. As these pieces were dipped in a tin glaze and then painted over the top of the wet glaze, the painter had to know what he/she was doing. A simple mistake would mean no corrections. Fitted with a complex pewter lid. c1740/50
Condition: The jug has several cracks and a few small chips under the lid. The lid has some damage to the thumb. I have not cleaned this piece and is sold as-is.
Size : 21cm high
Price: CHF120.00
