Wedgwood Basalt Dancing Hours Vase & Cover by John Flaxman
A rather super Vase & cover in black Basalt and carved figures of ladies in their swirling dresses. The forms depict a cameo effect with light shining through their swirling dresses. A truly elegant neo-classical form and decoration by John Flaxman. He first designed this piece way back in 1770s and was so popular that the Wedgwood factory brought them back to life. He was considered a leading artist for the factory at the time.
