Swiss Antique Earthenware Milk Jug from the Vaud region Geneve c1880
A super find in that the colours in this marbleized jug are so varied. I have not seen this combination in the last 20 years. They are generally attributed to the Vaud/Waadt region of Switzerland dating late 1800s. The body is of a red clay and has a marbleized slip glaze, which is very thin. The 4 colours give it that supreme look and certainly grabs ones attention. The handle ends in a rat tail form which reminds me of early English silverware.
